Mark on the Word podcast

Mark is on the latest podcast from the Word Magazine talking about music and obviously his books. I haven't listened to it yet (it`s Mrs Smudge`s birthday luncheon in ten minutes) and the podcast is only available in its full form (there is a truncated section on iTunes) to subscribers (of which I am one. The Word, as we see here has impeccable taste and splendid guests) so I will try to get it streamed up on here somehow.
Hello everyone by the way. Sorry to be stranger and a stranger but I have been hard at work writing a new novel and gathering strands for another. I`ll try and stick around.

The UK’s premier crime-thriller writer Mark Billingham enters the pod and subjects his obsessions to forensic enquiry - among them The Smiths, Genesis, Johnny Cash and Hank Williams. There’s some sound advice – “if you get caught shoplifting, at least nick something fashionable”. There’s his four minutes dancing onstage with Elvis Costello and the time Morrissey let him to use some Smiths lyrics in one of his novels. And the fatwa from furious Phil Collins supporters. And what it’s like to be the first human character on Spitting Image. Plus a lively discussion of the five Beatles songs that officially “aren’t any good"
