Is it too early for the Harrogate thread?
Having paid my bill for the weekend break package I don't think so.
Here are the authors who appear on the letter asking for the money
Linwood Barclay David Baldacci Lisa Gardner Lee Child Martina Cole Tess Gerritsen Dennis Lehane Howard Marks Many congratulations to Dreda Say Mitchell, the guv and the rest of the Harrogate crime writing festival committee that is some lineup.
Dare I say the best one ever? It is for my limited experience of the event.
The festival has also moved venues this year and is back in The Old Swan Hotel not The Crown.
Has anyone who has been to The Old Swan shed got any thoughts?
One plus point is the huge 175 space car park which is about 170 more spaces than The Crown.
Roll on July!

I absolutely love The Old Swan Millhouse. And that line up is just about right. It's going to be the best year yet for the Festival!

I loved The Old Swan also Millhouse, and it's a good line up, but then lets face it, every year is a good line up.

Apart from the last two on the list, I have to say there's none of my favourites there so far...clearly I'm in the minority.
The stars for me will always be my fellow fiends!

Funds permitting, I will be there in some form. though, of the list, only Lee Child and Tess Geritzen appeal, but, as RC says, it is all about the feinds.

I much prefer the Swan as a venue to the Crown but the service was pretty dire I remember (not that I remember much - it was the heat that year, not the drink you understand!)

I've met Linwood Barclay and Lee Child in person, and have interviewed them both by phone on another occasion as well. Both are terrific, and will be great sessions to go to (Barclay especially - he's very funny).
I've also heard very good things (in terms of how they are to interview/appearances etc - not just their writing) about Gerritsen, Gardner, and Lehane. So should be a good line-up on that front - especially as I imagine there is still plenty more to come...
I've heard CJ Box is also attending. That's a cool coup too.
Hopefully Neil Cross, Paul Cleave, and/or some other Kiwi-based authors might also head along too.

Yup, Mr Cleave is coming all the way from NZ, which is great. It's a fantastic line-up, and there's more to come.

Paul (Cleave) really really enjoyed last year. I think he plans on attending as often as he can!

That's good - he was raving about it when I talked to him last year - he keeps trying to convince me to join him on the plane too!
