OK, so this is going to be a test of memory, as this is even way beyond late, but here goes.

I enjoyed this book, written, as it was, in a fictional part of (North?) Yorkshire not far from the part of West Yorkshire where I have lived for the past 22 years. As such, the scenery and locations, some fictional, rang true to home and I enjoy Inspector Banks' character, as it is easy to identify with.

The past, interwoven with the present, had an interesting, if, IMHO, slightly predictable denouement, but overall the book was immensely enjoyable, Peter being an author whose seies I would like to return to one day.

HI,Im a newbie here,I think this is a good place for me to make my first post!
I discovered Peter Robinson and Banks way before I found Marks books.
Both lead characters and stories are excellent.
Ive read all but the newest of each author (oh,apart from ScaredyCat,which Im just starting) and thoroughly enjoyed them all.
Banks gets better with every book imho, Friend Of The Devil is superb.
Im delighted to have found this place and hope to contribute more,if thats ok?

Welcome, Tom, it's great to have you here. You've joined on arguably the most weighted and significant date of the BTZ's history. Look forward to reading more of your posts.

Thanks very much.
I guess you mean the TV series starting?
Im really looking forward to it.
I have a feeling it will be better than the Banks effort on ITV,which felt so rushed!
